Study Estimates 17% Of Food-Allergic Kids Also Have Sesame Allergy

Sesame allergy is prevalent among children with other food allergies, affecting about 17% of them. Researchers have developed a model to predict sesame allergy by measuring specific antibodies in blood. Sesame allergy can cause symptoms ranging from mild hives to severe anaphylaxis. Despite its prevalence, sesame is not yet required to be disclosed on food labels, but the FDA is considering adding it due to growing concerns.
