At Least 1,297 People Killed In Haiti Earthquake

A 7.2 magnitude earthquake devastated Haiti, killing at least 1297 people and injuring thousands. The southern region suffered the most damage, with over 13,000 homes destroyed. The Civil Protection Service warns of further risks from an approaching tropical depression. Haiti is also grappling with political instability following the assassination of President Jovenel Moise and is still recovering from the 2010 earthquake. Tennis star Naomi Osaka, whose father is Haitian, has pledged to donate her tournament winnings to aid relief efforts.
