Earthquake devastates Chalcidice Peninsula, known in modern Greece as Chalkidiki

A disaster on the peninsula has resulted in over 200 deaths and thousands homeless. Refugees are living in makeshift camps with limited resources. The peninsula risks being isolated from the mainland if conditions persist. Many Aegean islands were formed by similar seismic activities. Relief agencies, including the Red Cross, are providing food and supplies to the affected, many of whom have not eaten for days. Efforts are underway to restore order and provide shelter.
