Marvin Kay, a medical assistant from Liberia, survived the Ebola virus after contracting it unknowingly while treating a hospital director. He experienced symptoms and was admitted to an Ebola unit, where he received treatment to alleviate symptoms. Despite the high mortality rate around him, Kay survived and returned home, celebrating his recovery. Meanwhile, in the US, two patients treated with an experimental serum were discharged, offering hope. However, the epidemic continued to spread in Liberia, and deaths were reported in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The World Health Organization reported 1,350 deaths from the virus.
