The payment was made without a written contract, but Blatter insists there was an oral agreement. He also faces other legal issues in Switzerland. Blatter paid tribute to his mentor, Joao Avelanche, who passed away at 100, noting that Avelanche's tenure was also marred by corruption allegations.
