Gráinne, daughter of King Cormac, is furious to learn she must marry the aging Fionn instead of a young warrior. During a banquet, she meets Diarmuid, a handsome soldier, and they escape together, pursued by Fionn. With the help of the giant Modan, they evade capture, but Fionn's relentless pursuit strains his relationship with his men. Eventually, peace is brokered, but years later, Diarmuid is fatally wounded on a hunt. Fionn hesitates to save him, and Diarmuid dies, leaving Fionn to regret his actions.
