Despite previous statements, he suggested that Venezuela might consider rejoining the OAS if Secretary General Luis Almagro resigns, allowing for a reorganization that respects national sovereignty. Maduro emphasized that no OAS representatives would be allowed in Venezuela and that his government would not recognize future OAS decisions. The OAS held its 74th General Assembly in Cancún, Mexico, which ended without consensus. Meanwhile, Venezuela continues to face a severe political and economic crisis, with ongoing protests resulting in 75 deaths over nearly three months.
