Following a weekend where five people were shot during spring break, Miami Beach officials declared a state of emergency, including a curfew for South Beach starting Thursday through the weekend. Thousands of college students and young people visit Miami Beach for spring break annually. The mayor reported that around 100 guns have been seized in the past four weeks, and several police officers have been injured. Last year, over 1000 people were arrested after a curfew was imposed.
