Weather Things: Rainbows

Rainbows are optical phenomena formed by sunlight interacting with raindrops, causing light to refract, reflect, and disperse into colors. The visibility and position of rainbows depend on the sun's position. Primary rainbows have red on the outside and violet on the inside, while secondary rainbows have reversed colors and are fainter. Supernumeraries are additional color patterns seen inside the primary rainbow. Rainbows can also be used to predict weather, indicating rain or storms based on their appearance and position relative to the sun.
