Beijing has reported three new COVID-19 cases, prompting the closure of two markets and delaying the return to school for primary students. After two months without infections, China, which initially controlled the virus, is now seeing daily cases, mostly from returning citizens. A new case of unknown origin was reported in Beijing, followed by two more. The last case in the capital was in mid-April. The recent cases involve employees from the Meat Research Center, with one having visited Qingdao. Officially, Beijing has recorded 597 cases and ten deaths.
