China showcases Type 99 battle tank

The ZTZ 99, also known as Type 99, is a Chinese main battle tank inspired by the T72 and Leopard 2. It features a 125mm smoothbore gun with an auto-loader, capable of firing shells and missiles. The Type 99 can potentially penetrate the US Abrams tank's armor with tungsten rounds. The Type 99A2 variant has a longer barrel and advanced protection systems, including composite and explosive reactive armor (ERA), radar for detecting projectiles, and a laser warning receiver. The tank accommodates three crew members: commander, gunner, and driver.
