In June 2018, Saudi women eagerly awaited the opportunity to drive following the lifting of a government-imposed ban. Some women, already holding foreign driving licenses, aspired to work as drivers for Karim, a company similar to Uber. This opportunity allowed them to work part-time and contribute to society. Karim saw this as a lucrative opportunity, aiming to hire up to 100,000 female drivers, capitalizing on women's reluctance to travel with male drivers. Saudi Arabia, previously the only country prohibiting women from driving, prepared for this cultural shift by offering courses for new drivers.
