China, Beijing - Temple of Heaven

The Temple of Heaven in Beijing is an imperial complex used by Ming and Qing emperors for annual ceremonies to pray for good harvests. Originally constructed in the early 15th century, it was expanded and renamed during the 16th century under the Jia Jing Emperor. The temple underwent its last major renovation in the 18th century due to budget constraints. The Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests, a key structure, is a wooden building without nails, rebuilt after a fire in 1889.
