Overview of the Planets of Our Solar System

The solar system consists of eight planets orbiting the Sun. The inner planets, Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Mars, are small and dense with solid surfaces and metallic cores, while the outer planets, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune, are large gas giants. An asteroid belt separates the inner and outer planets. Inner planets have tectonic activities and atmospheres, whereas outer planets are mostly gaseous.
