Study Found Cancer Caused Higher Share Of Deaths In Some Countries

A study tracked over 162,000 people aged 35-70 from 21 countries to examine common diseases and causes of death. It found that in high-income and some upper-middle-income countries, cancer is a more common cause of death than heart disease. However, globally, heart disease remains the leading cause of death, with the World Health Organization reporting it as the top cause in 2016. In the US, heart disease and cancer were responsible for 44% of deaths in 2017.
