Smithsonian Museum Remains Closed Due To COVID-19 Impact

The Smithsonian has closed its 19 museums and the National Zoo due to rising COVID-19 cases in Washington DC. While the zoo reopened in July and some museums in September with safety measures, financial challenges persist as they rely on ticket revenue. The Smithsonian hopes for inclusion in future stimulus packages. It receives $1 billion annually from the federal government and had over 22 million visits last year. No reopening date has been announced.
