VOICED: Japan 'diet goggles' fool wearers into eat

Researchers at the University of Tokyo have developed VR glasses that enhance user satisfaction with smaller or less appealing treats by altering perception. A study led by Professor Michio Takahiro found that these glasses can make users feel full faster by expanding the appearance of cookies. The technology involves cameras and computers that adjust the size of the image seen by the wearer. Additionally, the device can emit odors to trick the senses of taste and smell, making a plain biscuit seem like a chocolate chip cookie. Although effective, the team has no plans to commercialize the invention, as Japan has low obesity rates.
