United States gifts Berlin with library

The American Memorial Library in West Berlin, a gift from the United States, stands as the largest and most modern library in Europe. Located near the Soviet sector, it was built to symbolize American-German cooperation during the Berlin blockade. The library, initially housing over 100,000 volumes, aims to exceed 700,000. It serves as the Free Zone Central Library. At its dedication, U.S. High Commissioner James B.
