Pedro Sánchez, the socialist leader, won the Spanish legislative elections but did not secure an absolute majority with 120 seats. Vox emerged as the third force, doubling its seats to 52. The conservative Partido Popular increased its seats, while Ciudadanos saw a significant drop. Podemos lost seats, and its offshoot Más País entered the parliament. No absolute majority exists for either the right or left blocs. Pablo Iglesias of Podemos proposed a coalition with PSOE, and Sánchez promised to form a progressive government.
