Virus Prevents Leaders From Attending U.N. General Assembly Meeting

The 75th UN General Assembly will not gather in person due to COVID-19. Assembly President Tijjani Muhammad Bandy announced that leaders of the 193 member nations will not meet in New York. Instead, the UN plans to allow leaders to pre-record their speeches. UN Secretary General Antonio Gutierrez recommended that only one New York-based diplomat be present at the assembly due to coronavirus concerns.
