Taiping Rebellion | 3 Minute History

Kwan failed the Chinese civil service exams multiple times, leading to religious visions and the belief he was Jesus' brother. He gained followers and established the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom, opposing the Qing dynasty. Despite initial military successes, internal conflicts and external pressures weakened the Taiping. The Qing, aided by Western powers, eventually defeated them, leading to the fall of Nanjing and the end of the Taiping Rebellion, which resulted in millions of deaths.
