Learning Alone: One Man's Fight for a Fair Education

George McLaren, born in 1894, pursued higher education despite racial barriers. After being denied admission to the University of Oklahoma due to his race, he challenged the decision in federal court. Although initially forced to study under segregated conditions, McLaren's persistence led to a Supreme Court ruling affirming his right to equal educational experiences. Remarkably, he achieved academic excellence at the age of 61, becoming one of the top students at the university.
