Robert Hutchings Goddard launched the first liquid propellant rocket on March 16, 1926, in Auburn, Massachusetts. He continued to develop more complex rockets aiming for longer, faster, and higher flights. Despite his significant contributions, his research went largely unnoticed in the United States during the 1930s and 1940s.
