Massive asteroid to pass near Earth on April 29

Asteroid 1998 OR2 is barreling towards Earth at a speed of 31,320 km/h. It will pass by our planet on April 29th at a safe distance, more than 16 times the average distance between Earth and the Moon. Estimated by NASA to be between 1.8 to 4.1 kilometers wide, the asteroid is roughly the size of midtown Manhattan. It takes three years and eight months to orbit the Sun, reaching near Jupiter at its furthest point and just outside Earth's farthest distance from the Sun at its closest approach.
