Nehemiah Grew, educated at Cambridge and Leiden, was a physician known for his pioneering work in botany alongside John Ray. He is recognized as a founder of plant anatomy, using his animal anatomy training to study plants. His treatises detailed the structure of bean seeds and named many botanical structures. Grew's notable work, 'The Anatomy of Plants' published in 1682, proposed that flower stamens and pistils correspond to animal reproductive organs.
