NFL Makes Adjustments To Rooney Rule To Aid Minority Hiring

The NFL has announced a new six-person Diversity Advisory Committee to increase minority representation in senior positions, such as coaching and team ownership. The league has expanded the Rooney Rule, requiring teams to interview at least one female and one minority applicant. Additionally, teams must hire a female or minority for an assistant coaching position to gain experience. This announcement follows a lawsuit by former Dolphins head coach Brian Flores, alleging racial discrimination, with only two of the 32 NFL teams currently having Black head coaches.
