What is a microorganism?

Microorganisms are tiny living organisms visible only under a microscope. They are everywhere, including in the air, water, and even inside our bodies. The main types are viruses, bacteria, and fungi. While some viruses and bacteria can cause diseases, others are beneficial, such as bacteria used in food production and digestion. Fungi, like yeast, are used in baking, and mould plays a crucial role in breaking down organic matter. Despite their small size, microorganisms have a significant impact on our world, being both helpful and harmful.
