Hurricane Ivan

Hurricane Ivan, a major storm in 2004, caused widespread devastation across the Gulf Coast and inland areas. It began in the Atlantic, moved through the Caribbean, and made landfall in Gulf Shores, Alabama, as a Category 3 hurricane. Ivan caused severe coastal damage, record storm surges, and spawned numerous tornadoes. Inland areas also suffered significant wind damage. The storm impacted 18 states, resulting in over 60 deaths and $27 billion in damages. Ivan's name was retired due to its destructive legacy.
