The US and Russia reached an agreement in Geneva to dismantle Syria's chemical weapons. They estimated the quantity and type of weapons and required Syria to present a list within a week. Inspectors are to be in Syria by November to ensure the removal of weapons by mid-2014. The UN Security Council will respond if Syria fails to comply. The agreement was welcomed by many countries and the UN Secretary-General but rejected by Syrian rebels, who claim it doesn't concern them as they lack chemical weapons and will continue fighting until the regime falls.
