Haitian Prime Minister Ariel Henry dismissed Chief Prosecutor Bedford Claude after Claude sought to charge Henry in connection with President Jovenel Moïse's assassination. Claude also requested a travel ban on Henry due to alleged calls with a key suspect, Joseph Félix Badio. Moïse was killed on July 7 by an armed group at his home. Henry, appointed by Moïse days before his death, was sworn in on July 20, pledging to improve security and organize delayed elections. Haitian law requires presidential approval to question a prime minister, but Haiti currently lacks a president. So far, 44 people, including 18 Colombians and two Haitian-Americans, have been arrested in the investigation.
