VOICED : Joya de Cerén, una aldea prehispánica maya protegida por cenizas en El Salvador

Joya de Serén in El Salvador is a well-preserved Maya village, recognized as a World Heritage site since 1993. The site offers a unique glimpse into the daily life of the Maya people, preserved by a volcanic eruption. Discovered in 1976, it has been transformed into an archaeological museum. Recent renovations, costing $1.3 million, have enhanced the site with multilingual and braille information. The project aims to conserve the archaeological areas, showcasing the organized lifestyle of the Maya, including their living arrangements and community structures. The remodel also highlights two significant structures: the temazcal and the chamana's house.
