VOICED : CIDH denuncia deterioro democratico y de DDHH en Venezuela

The Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (CIDH) reported a decline in democratic institutions and human rights in Venezuela. The report highlights political rights limitations, public force abuses, censorship, crime, and shortages of food and medicine. It urges Venezuela to acknowledge the situation's severity, follow the report's 76 recommendations, and accept international cooperation. The report questions the legitimacy of the Constituent Assembly and stresses the need for fair presidential elections. The Venezuelan government, led by President Nicolás Maduro, dismissed the report as biased. Despite Venezuela's withdrawal from the Inter-American Human Rights Convention, CIDH retains jurisdiction until April 2019.
