Federal Government To Stop Funding 13 Coronavirus Testing Sites

Assistant Secretary for Health Admiral Brett Jiwa announced that testing sites across five states will transition from federal to state control. The government will continue to support testing efforts by increasing both the number and quality of tests. Governors of the affected states agreed on the timing of the transition. The sites were initially set up to enhance local testing capabilities during the early stages of the coronavirus outbreak. Seven of these sites are in Texas, which is experiencing a surge in cases. However, Senator Ted Cruz opposes the transition and is advocating for the extension of community testing sites in Texas.
