Lipids

Lipids are organic molecules characterized by long carbon chains or rings, typically insoluble in water but soluble in organic solvents. Fats are a common type of lipid, and other important chemicals such as fatty acids, steroids, natural waxes, and the molecules that form cell membranes are also classified as lipids.
