Protists: Sporozoans

Malaria is a disease affecting over 200 million people worldwide, caused by the sporozoan plasmodium. This parasite forms spores that inhabit mosquitoes, which transmit the disease to humans through bites. Once in the human body, the spores infect liver and blood cells, leading to symptoms like high fever and chills. Without prompt medical treatment, malaria can be fatal.
