Anthony Varvaro, a former MLB player for the Atlanta Braves, Seattle Mariners, and Boston Red Sox, retired to become a police officer with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. Tragically, he died in a car accident on his way to a 9/11 memorial event in New York.
