VOICED : Naufrago penso en suicidio

José Salvador Alvarenga, a Salvadoran castaway, survived over 13 months adrift in the Pacific Ocean. He considered suicide but was kept alive by memories of his family and favorite foods. Alvarenga, who set sail from Mexico in December 2012, credits his religious faith for helping him endure a 12,500-kilometer journey to an atoll south of the Marshall Islands, where he was rescued. He faced severe challenges, including the death of his companion, whose body he had to discard at sea. Alvarenga is currently recovering in a hospital in Majuro, awaiting repatriation.
