Layers of a Rainforest

Rainforests, located near the equator, are rich in biodiversity, housing over half of the world's plant and animal species. They consist of four layers: the forest floor, understory, canopy, and emergent layer. Each layer has distinct characteristics and supports different life forms. The forest floor is dark and home to large animals and decomposers. The understory has limited light, supporting shrubs and climbing plants. The canopy, rich in foliage, hosts most rainforest animals. The emergent layer, with tall trees, faces high temperatures and winds. All layers are interconnected, influencing each other and allowing animal movement between them.
