On October 20th, UN forces, including Rock soldiers and American Jiis, seized Guangdong, breaking a five-year Communist hold. Two days later, 120 planes transported the 187th Airborne Regiment paratroopers north of Pyongyang. General MacArthur observed the operation, which was executed smoothly. The drop was precisely planned, catching 130,000 North Koreans by surprise, as they were trapped between UN forces and Pyongyang.
