Yintai, a determined young woman, disguises herself as a boy to attend the Confucius Academy. She forms a deep friendship with Liang Shambo, but must leave after three years due to growing suspicions. Upon returning home, Yintai is arranged to marry another, despite her love for Shambo. Heartbroken, Shambo falls ill and writes Yintai a final letter. On her wedding day, Yintai visits Shambo's tomb, and in a mystical event, transforms into a butterfly, symbolizing her eternal freedom with Shambo.
