VOICED : Santos recoge premio ambiental en Londres por paz en Colombia

Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos received the International Q Medal in London for his efforts in biodiversity protection. The Colombian environment suffered greatly during the internal conflict due to illegal mining, attacks on oil pipelines, and deforestation. Santos emphasized the need for reconciliation with nature, highlighting the massive oil spills equivalent to 14 times the Exxon Valdez disaster. The Colombian Ministry of Environment noted that peace has facilitated better environmental protection by making previously inaccessible areas reachable. The 2016 peace agreement with FARC ended 53 years of armed conflict, creating favorable conditions for environmental recovery.
