Annual round-up of some 2000 elk herded onto Oak Creek Game Range

In Yakima, Washington, an elk roundup is conducted using helicopters as early snows drive elk from the mountains. The Washington State Game Department herds 2,200 elk into the Oak Creek game range to protect farmlands. This costly operation is funded by hunting and fishing licenses. Elk are fed at ten stations, consuming six tons of hay daily. Hunters will soon arrive, but for now, the elk are safe in their habitat.
