VOICED : Vuelo del angel abre Carnaval de Venecia

The Venice Carnival was launched with the traditional Angel's Flight, attended by 100,000 people. Julia Nassi, a 22-year-old student, performed the flight from the Campanile of St. Mark's Basilica, dressed in a costume by Stefano Nicolao. The event, which had fallen out of favor for decades, was revived in the 1980s by the city council.
