Puerto Rico Gov. Wanda Vázquez Will Run In 2020

Vasquez, initially uninterested in the governor role, announced her candidacy for the 2020 election. She previously served as justice secretary and became governor after Ricardo Rocio's resignation. Despite her earlier stance, Vasquez decided to run under the new Progressive Party, facing Pedro Pierluisi, who was initially chosen to succeed Rocio but faced legal challenges. Pierluisi had also run in the 2016 local primaries.
