089 Rosetta Stone - One Minute History

The Rosetta Stone, discovered in Fort Julian, is a granite slab with bilingual inscriptions that helped decipher Egyptian hieroglyphics. Despite conflicts in Egypt, copies were distributed to scholars across Europe. The stone features three versions of a decree from 196 BCE by King Ptolemy V, written in hieroglyphic, demotic, and ancient Greek. Its discovery was pivotal in understanding hieroglyphics, and it is now displayed at the British Museum.
