VOICED : El ciclón Fred se degrada a depresión tropical a su paso por isla La Española

Fred has weakened to a tropical depression as it passed over Hispaniola, shared by Haiti and the Dominican Republic. The U.S. National Hurricane Center reported that the depression is moving northwest. A tropical storm alert has been issued for the Dominican Republic's coast, from Cabo Francés Viejo to the Haitian border. Fred is also under surveillance in northern Haiti, the British territory of the Turks and Caicos, the southeastern Bahamas, and several Cuban provinces. Forecasts predict Fred will regain strength by Thursday night, with heavy rains expected in Florida and other parts of the southeastern United States by the weekend and early next week.
