French President François Hollande, during a visit to Bangui, called for action against the massacres in the Central African Republic. He paid tribute to two French soldiers who died in a mission, marking the first French casualties since the start of Operation Zangaris. The French military, with African support, successfully disarmed most groups involved in the conflict within 24 hours. Hollande criticized the local government for ignoring the massacres in the conflict between the Catholic majority and Muslims, which has resulted in around 400 deaths.
