The Brazilian army destroyed around 2,000 weapons in Rio de Janeiro, most of which were linked to criminal activities, while some were voluntarily surrendered. These weapons, collected over the past decade, included both old and new ones. In 2017, the army destroyed over 43,000 confiscated weapons. A recent agreement with the National Congress of Justice ensures that weapons no longer needed for investigations are destroyed.
