Beekeepers in the U.S. lost 44 percent of their hives over the 12 months

The Beamform Partnership's survey of 5700 beekeepers across 48 states revealed a 44% loss of hives from April 2015 to April 2016. Both summer and winter 2015 saw a 28.1% loss rate. Factors like the Vera of Mite parasite, pesticides, and malnutrition from single flower farms contribute to these losses. Bees are crucial for pollinating fruits, nuts, and vegetables, impacting 35% of global crops worth $577 billion. In the US, honey bees contribute over $15 billion annually to the economy.
