Bob Ross, born in Daytona Beach, Florida, faced early challenges, including losing a finger. He joined the US Air Force, becoming a drill sergeant, which led him to vow never to yell again. Inspired by Alaska's landscapes, he developed a quick oil painting technique, a la Prima, credited to William Alexander. His TV show, 'The Joy of Painting,' showcased his calm demeanor and happy catchphrases. Despite disliking his signature hair, he maintained it for branding. Bob passed away on July 4, 1995, leaving a legacy of over 30,000 paintings, many donated. His influence continues at the Bob Ross Workshop in Florida, where students can become certified instructors.
